Terms of Service

1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of PCT Homework Helper (the "Service"), operated by PCT Homework Helper ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. The Service

PCT Homework Helper is an AI-powered tutoring service for students in Grades 1 to 12. It offers homework help, study tools, curriculum-based support, progress tracking, and a parent dashboard.

3. Accounts and Parents or Guardians

• Accounts may only be created by a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live).
• Children cannot create accounts on their own. A parent or guardian creates a child profile and is responsible for their child's use of the Service.
• You must provide accurate information and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
• Please tell us right away at support@pcttax.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

4. Children's Privacy

We take children's privacy seriously. How we collect, use, and protect information about children is described in our Privacy Policy. By creating a child profile, a parent or guardian confirms they have the authority to do so and consent to the collection and use of their child's information as described there.

5. AI-Generated Content

• Answers and explanations are generated by artificial intelligence and may sometimes be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date.
• The Service is a study aid. It is not a substitute for a teacher, tutor, or professional advice, and we do not guarantee any particular academic result.
• Parents and guardians are encouraged to review their child's sessions, and to check important answers against textbooks or teachers.
• Curriculum coverage (such as ZIMSEC, Canadian, British GCSE, and South African CAPS) is provided as general support and may not match every school's syllabus.

6. Plans, Free Trial, and Billing

• The Service offers a free trial and paid subscription plans. Features and prices are shown on the Pricing page and may change over time.
• The free trial allows 10 questions or 14 days from activation, whichever comes first, with the other limits shown on the Pricing page. It is available to new users only, one per person. It is not available to anyone who has already used a free trial or had a paid plan, or who has deleted their account and registers again with the same email address, including through a different sign-in method. When the trial ends, a paid plan is needed to continue. To enforce this, we keep a record of email addresses that have used the Service, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
• Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe on the billing cycle you choose (for example monthly or yearly) and renew automatically until cancelled. We do not store your card details.
• Prices are shown at checkout. Any applicable taxes will be added where required.
• If a payment fails, we may suspend paid features until payment is successful.

7. Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from Settings. After you cancel, your paid access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and your subscription will not renew. When that period ends, you will need to choose a plan to continue.

8. Refunds

Subscription payments are non-refundable except where a refund is required by law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@pcttax.com and we will review your request.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for anything unlawful, harmful, or inappropriate for children;
• try to get around plan limits, the free trial rule, or account security;
• access other users' accounts or data;
• copy, resell, scrape, or reverse engineer the Service;
• interfere with or overload the Service or its infrastructure;
• submit content that is abusive, hateful, sexual, or violent.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

10. Your Content

You and your children keep ownership of the questions, notes, and other content submitted to the Service. You give us permission to process that content only as needed to provide the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Our Content

The Service, including its design, software, branding, and original content, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. You may use it for personal, non-commercial educational purposes only.

12. Availability

We work to keep the Service available but do not promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, pause, or discontinue features at any time. Third-party services we rely on (such as AI providers, payments, and hosting) may also affect availability.

13. Disclaimers and Limits of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss from relying on AI-generated answers. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

14. Ending Your Account

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings, or by contacting support@pcttax.com. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if required by law.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top, and for significant changes we will notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Canada, unless the law of your place of residence requires otherwise.
